WSM is recruiting: Partnerships and Funding Officer (m, f, x)
80% or 100% – fixed-term contract for 1 year, with the possibility of extension
Do you believe in international cooperation and the power of social movements? Do you enjoy exploring funding opportunities for programmes worldwide, within the framework of bilateral or multilateral cooperation? And do you enjoy turning strategies into strong proposals? Then you might be the person we are looking for.
WSM is a Belgian NGO that works with social movements worldwide to ensure that both current and future generations can enjoy their universal rights to decent work and social protection. WSM collaborates with more than 100 social movements in 20 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in Belgium and Europe. In Belgium, WSM focuses on movement-based work with the organisations of the ‘beweging.net/MOC’ (ACV-CSC, LCM-ANMC, etc.) to increase and sustain support for solidarity and international cooperation amongst their target groups. WSM facilitates intercontinental links between these movements through a thematic network (INSP!R – International Network for Social Protection Rights).
Our values, such as equality and inclusion, are central to our approach and our human resources policy.
Position of the role within the organisation
To further strengthen our impact, we are diversifying our public funding through various donors, such as ENABEL, the EU, UN organisations and others.
You will work within the Programmes Department, in close consultation with the programme coordinators in Belgium and across the continents, and with the department responsible for international advocacy:

- You will summarise the specific technical and thematic requirements and coordinate the internal dissemination of this information amongst WSM colleagues. In doing so, you will fulfil a coaching role regarding international donor regulations.
- You will develop substantive communications for donors (written and audiovisual media, website, etc.), based on a specific communications strategy that you will draw up in collaboration with specialist colleagues.
- You will coordinate the preparation of programme proposals: analysing donors’ criteria and rules, planning and compiling applications, in collaboration with the relevant colleagues and social movements.
- You will manage liaison with donors before, during and after the approval process.
- You will coordinate reporting, including the planning and quality of interim and annual reports and any evaluations.
- You will support your colleagues in developing specific methodological expertise for this type of programme.

- You are a global citizen: you are passionate about international cooperation, believe in WSM’s vision and can promote it with enthusiasm.
- You are results-oriented: you have at least 5 years’ experience in planning, delegating tasks and monitoring progress.
- You have at least 3 years’ experience in project cycle management and are proficient in various PMEAL methodologies to work in a participatory and efficient manner. Your experience spans both the strategic and budgetary levels throughout the entire PMEAL cycle.
- You have a very good command of written and spoken French and English.
- You are familiar with the financial regulations relating to programme funding from DGD, ENABEL, the EU, UN organisations, etc.
- You have a university degree or equivalent experience in the field of social sciences, economics or management.
- You are adept at translating complex strategies into a clear technical dossier containing convincing arguments, in accordance with a formally prescribed format.
- You enjoy working with people from a wide range of backgrounds, with diverse expectations and from different organisational and geographical cultures.
- You have a knack for building partnerships and are skilled at developing long-term relationships with donors.
